Bachelor of Arts in Art

Anderson College, a private four-year liberal arts college with a Christian heritage, is pleased to offer a curriculum leading to a Bachelor of Arts degree in Art. The Art Major at Anderson College is a dynamic blend of disciplined training, creative expression and professional exploration. The Art Major is an excellent foundation for a career in studio art, graphic design, interior design, and art education.

Course of Study

Students in the major choose one of the following concentrations
  • General Studio
  • Painting/Drawing
  • Graphic Design
  • Interior Design
  • 3D / Ceramics
  • Art Education (leading to certification K-12)

Central to the course of study is the three-course foundation sequence required of each
incoming student: foundation design, drawing, and color. Once the foundations sequence is completed, each student proceeds into studio and academic training within their selected concentration.

Facilities

The Art Major is housed in the Callie Stringer Rainey Fine Arts Center, a comprehensive on-campus arts complex featuring seven art studios: drawing/printmaking, painting, graphic design, photography, interior design, art education, and ceramics. Other benefits apart from the Fine Arts Center include Lab and Instruction in CAD (Computer Assisted Drafting), senior exhibition opportunities in the Gallant Art Gallery and the ability to major in Art without prior experience.
